movie posters

Poster for a short film for the 48HFP contest (2024).

The story follows a young man who goes to a police station to report a rape. He encounters policewomen who treat him condescendingly and attempt to blame him for being the victim.

This short film includes a required element — a sprinkler (mandated by the jury)—which one of the policewomen uses to spray the main character, supposedly to kill the bacteria he might have brought from the dirty pub where he was raped.

I took this idea as the basis for the design. I altered the sprinkler's nozzle to resemble a gun, symbolizing how this seemingly innocent object, in the hands of the police officer, becomes a tool of oppression. It also suggests that nothing is as it appears, as the entire situation unfolds only in the protagonist’s mind.

The tag is shaped like female underwear, referencing the scene where the male character is accused of wearing provocative clothing that allegedly led to the assault. The hand in the design is female, with red nails, symbolizing control and oppression.

My alternative poster for "Comet" movie, 2014, directed by Sam Esmail.

Though the plot is about a relationship of 2 people taking place in multiple parallel universes, as an inspiration for the design I used the greek meaning of the word "comet", that is the title of the movie.

In greek the word "comet" = "kometes" means "a head with long hair".

I went for the font that visually reflects a comet - the letters are connected to each other like a celestial body and its tail, and the shapes of the letters are round and as if flying.

The head in the poster is a celestial body also referring to space and the universe, which is the main theme of the film (and its multiplicity). Hair are also starry-like, as well as the text.
